Cloisterfuck is an exhibition of sculpture, digital, and baked goods that adopt the forms of Gothic art and architecture. The medieval age tends to stand for the base and bodily, the grotesque and esoteric. This show considers how the chaos of the dark ages could represent different and empowering ways of thinking and being. 
For Pascale Giorgi, the medieval peasant becomes a potential symbol of folk power and bodily autonomy. Medieval defensive architecture is warped and kneaded into objects of personal preservation that dream of rebellions and toppled kingdoms.&#38;nbsp; A ceramic castle shields a sourdough starter, and a fort made from baked bread encloses speakers playing peasant folk-electro. 
Guy Louden’s work emphasises a parallel between Gothic ways of thinking and our own – increasingly contemporary systems of knowledge appear obscure, esoteric, and grotesque. 3D scans of medieval sculpture are rendered into flat and glitched icons, hand-illuminated and mounted on blackened wood. In a custom video game, a maze generates around the player, an algorithm spiralling around our every click.

Neoneogothic is an exhibition combining gothic imagery with digital techniques. It is interested in parallels between the mediaeval and our own age, shared ways of thinking marked by superstition and obscurity. The show is inspired by the rise of esoteric politics online, and particularly by the right-wing politicisation of a family member. The artworks – a video game, digital prints, audio, and text – consider how this sort of thinking could be shaped by recent technological conditions.

Dungeon Crawl is a group exhibition of new art involving dark fantasy, role playing and tabletop games – things like D&#38;amp;D, CRPGs and Warhammer. The artists in this show celebrate these aesthetics, consider their cultural meanings, and probe their metaphoric possibilities. Through sculpture, sound, drawing, and software art, they respond to practices like potion-making, world building, object enchantment, lore, grinding, and monster design. Dungeon Crawl is presented in a literal underground dungeon, and paired with public programs including Dungeons &#38;amp; Dragons sessions and fantasy miniature painting workshops.

On the eve of the 1951 referendum to ban the Communist Party, my grandfather buried his political literature. In this artwork, the story is told through the aesthetics of William Morris, a 19th century artist who combined medievalism with a communist ethos.
 Though Morris' work seems archaic today, it represents an idealised conception of communism which still appeals in contrast to the brutality of the 20th century. 
   During my grandfather's life, this sort of radical politics declined and nearly disappeared in Australia. By the time of my own upbringing, it was only ever presented as quaint or ironic. In the making of this artwork, I aimed to recover this familial and social tradition, to rehabilitate my grandfather's understanding of communism – utopian, but moral, hopeful, and experimental.
Made for the 2021 Stringer Prize and exhibited at John Curtin Gallery at Curtin University, Perth. Also exhibited in the 2023 Fremantle Print Award.

For the Fremantle Biennale, I created a jet ski racing video game set in the canals of a future, flooded Fremantle. Designed for a site-responsive brief, the artwork was installed in a landmark building in the West End. This area is less than 1 metre above sea level and likely to be underwater by 2100 – despite this, the building is currently being redeveloped for high-end hospo and is one of many recently bought by business magnates. I made the artwork as crass and unhinged as possible to reflect the psychology of this moment – our inability to think outside of a capitalist ethos, even as its deficiency is plain to see.

P.S. On opening night the artwork was played by billionaire oligarch Twiggy Forrest, who owns property on the street.

This artwork was commissioned for the Biennale’s Room Service program, Nov 2025. It is based on an idea from Pascale Giorgi, and uses a 3D model provided courtesy the City of Fremantle.

Solid ground cracked, and everything permanent and inevitable fell away. Panic buying is a local expression of this age of global contingency. On bare supermarket aisles the tensions between the individual, the communal, and the corporate play out in a crisis of excess and necessity. Who prepares our communities for universal calamity? Panic buying is the climax of a system primed for collapse.

At Sawtooth, Panic Buy is presented as an online exhibition of video, stills, and text in a bespoke website. At Private Island, the exhibition takes the form of installation, video and 2D artwork. Panic Buy is supported by the Copyright Agency's Emergency Action Fund, Sawtooth ARI, and WA Government's DLGSC.

Preppers is a series of exhibitions about doomsday preppers — the global subculture of people who prepare for the collapse of society. Preppers collect specialised gear, practice survival skills, and hoard violent knowledge. They gather in communities and clubs as well as online. Prepping is a lifestyle and also a world-view, with its own distinct aesthetics, vocabulary, and consumer products.

The project considers the prepper phenomenon as an expression of wider cultural anxiety. Today, catastrophe looms on many fronts — whether environmental collapse, disruptive technology, rising political nativism, or a global economic crash. While established power systems fail to address these challenges, preppers are hard at work planning for the worst. In this moment of great uncertainty, they understand that chaos also represents an opportunity.

Curated by Louden, McCabe, and Kronemyer. Appearing at Firstdraft (Sydney), Bus Projects (Melbourne), FAC (Perth), online, and on tour.

Preppers often hoard or back-up files they believe will be important if the Internet were to collapse. Guy Louden presents an artwork that imagines such data in a postapocalyptic world. An onine backup of Wikipedia has been made precious in a data-scarce future, becoming a quasi-religious object of worship. The work questions what is valuable about our Information Age — what have we built that is worth saving?Produced for the exhibition Preppers at Fremantle Arts Centre.

Guy Louden, Tech Hagiography series, 2019, laser-etched titanium. Made for Spring1883, 2019.

Tech Hagiography is a satirical history of digital technology. The series illustrates the origin-stories of big tech's innovators. Though presented in laser-etched titanium, it adopts the archaic manner of gothic illuminated manuscripts. The works critique the culture of tech and its obsession with genius and progress.
In The Apple Miracle, Steve Jobs shows the original iPhone to an enraptured crowd. Behind him, Apple stocks rise to their trillion-dollar value. Below, angels witness the birth of the smartphone age.

Amazon Fulfillment shows workers in an Amazon warehouse — a picker, a courier, and a contractor. Together they fulfill the commands of the consumer, whose god-like hand reaches from the internet heavens down through AWS clouds.

Google Ad Sense shows Google's founders discovering the value of user data. Users are shown feeding their data into the Google algorithmic network. The founders combine this with web search to create personalised results, enabling the powerful advertising asset, Ad Sense, that made Google profitable.
